Characteristics of mammary implants from POLYTECH Health & Aesthetics

POLYTECH Health & Aesthetics implants are filled with a highly cross-linked silicone gel with a particularly natural feel. Due to its consistency, an implant can be cut in two and will not lose its form nor shape (see picture to the left).

All our gels have a so called "memory", which means that even after being squashed or manipulated the implants revert to their original shape.

The elastic, chemically and mechanically resistant implant shell consists of several silicone-elastomer layers building a predefined thickness. In order to offer a high level of safety, the shells which surround all silicone-gel filled implants have a special barrier layer which prevents the permeation of low-molecular-weight silicone components.

The surface of the implant shell is either smooth, textured or covered with a thin layer of Microthane® (micropolyurethane foam). Particularly the Microthane®-coated implants and the textured implants have been proven to considerably reduce the risk of capsular contracture.

All POLYTECH Health & Aesthetics implants are CE-certified and have the CE-Mark. This means, they are conform to the latest European rules and regulations concerning medical devices. In February 2003, the European Commission decided that breast implants should be reclassified from Class IIb devices according to the Council Directive 93/42/EEC (Medical Device Directive) to a higher level, the Class III devices. Thus, they belong to the most rigorously controlled devices within this directive.

In order to continue selling these implants in the European market, the products had to have received Class III approval by the deadline of 1st March 2004. POLYTECH Health & Aesthetics accepted this challenge with alacrity and received confirmation of approval for all its breast implants in December 2003, long ahead of the deadline. This early approval confirmed the high quality standards of POLYTECH Health & Aesthetics products as required by the European Commission – and provides reassurance for surgeons and patients alike.

With POLYTECH Health & Aesthetics implants, the surgeon has a wide range of products available, which resemble the natural mammary tissue in consistency, feel and movement.
